Tourist dwellings are considered tourist accommodation businesses, and require the appropriate statement of compliance with the requirements of the regulations in force. This ensures a minimum level of quality, and makes them equivalent to other types of tourist accommodation which need the relevant permits or licences to provide their services.

The licence for providing tourist dwellings is granted by the municipal council of the municipality where the dwelling is located. The municipal councils concerned may establish procedures for regular inspections of this activity under the terms and with the frequency and conditions established in their respective municipal ordinances. Failure to pass regular inspections may lead to cancellation of this licence.
