Knowledge Industry Grants for 2016. Modality A. LLavor Grants

The funding of innovation projects at Stages 1 and 2 of the Technology Readiness Level scale[1] for knowledge valorisation, with the potential for being incorporated into the production sector. The projects must be aimed at boosting protection for knowledge created and initial (pre-prototype) testing, and the definition of the commercialisation road map, the establishment of the business model, technological and/or commercial viability analysis, proof of concept design or similar activities included within these stages.

The grant is complemented with an entrepreneurship training plan, aimed at members of the Llavor team and designed to develop the innovative projects funded by these grants. Beneficiaries must be informed by the relevant means on the work plan and the specific actions to be carried out.

Beneficiary institutions

Research teams from universities in the Catalan universities system, research centres, technology centres, hospital foundations and non-profit foundations whose main activity is research and which are based in Catalonia (where they must carry out all or part of the research activity) may benefit from these grants.

Participant institutions must be owners or co-owners of the knowledge or technology whose valorisation is sought. Management of any additional results that may be obtained during the carrying out of the project is the responsibility of the applicant institution.


Participating research teams must be responsible for creating the knowledge or technology whose valorisation is sought. Research teams must be made up of at least two members, who have to meet the following requirements:

 1. Responsible Scientist must possess a doctorate and must be statutorily or contractually linked to the workforce of the participating university or centre and worm there on a full-time basis.

 2. Enterpreneur Scientist must be at the predoctoral or postdoctoral stage.

The Business Mentor, who must join the research team, once the projects have been chosen, to form the Llavor team, must meet the following requirements: 

- Her or she may not belong to companies or institutions in which members of the research team have positions of responsibility, shareholdings or recognised advisory activities.

 - Her or she may not receive any form of remuneration for carrying on this activity.

The research teams participating in these grants may submit only one application, such that associated persons, the Responsible Scientist and the Entrepreneur Scientist may only be included in one Llavor team proposal.Anyone participating, as Lead Researcher/Responsible Scientist or Junior Researcher/Entrepreneur Scientist, in a grant part of the previous call is excluded.


Els projectes tenen una durada de sis mesos, a comptar de l'endemà de la data d'acceptació de l'ajut per part de l'entitat beneficiària.


L'import de cada ajut als projectes LLAVOR és d'una quantia fixa de 20.000,00 euros, dels quals 10.000,00 euros van a càrrec dels fons FEDER i ha de ser avançats amb càrrec al pressupost de l'AGAUR assignat a la convocatòria. Els ajuts concedits se sotmeten al règim fiscal vigent en el moment del seu atorgament.
